BLOOD PRESSURE AND YOGA
There are people that say that Yoga can lower blood pressure. Now we know that regular exercise can help in lowering our blood pressure and everyone should be doing some form of exercise to keep fit and healthy. But what about Yoga ?
Yoga has been around for many many years and it is known that practising yoga is good for our minds as well as our bodies, but can it play any part in reducing high blood pressure. Yoga is an exercise using a series of movements and different positions which involve breathing techniques and meditation. These are all things that are known to help with blood pressure. Exercise we know helps as do breathing techniques and meditation. So I would say yes yoga must help in lowering blood pressure.
Do I know for sure ? No I don’t and Am not sure how much research has been done about yoga and blood pressure. I also have not practised yoga myself, so I can’t say first hand if it has contributed in my blood pressure coming down. I do breathing techniques, I do exercise and I do meditation and I believe they all play a part in my blood pressure level staying normal.
So if yoga involves all of these things then it must logically help in some way and if yoga as I have been told by someone that does practise it calms your mind and body down then that’s got to be a good thing for De-stressing oneself, which in turn must help our blood pressure.
So like I say I can’t actually recommend yoga as a definite blood pressure reducer but it must be worth contemplating as part of a healthy lifestyle program. Yoga is something that I have considered in the past but have never actually got around to, but I may start yoga sometime in the future and when I do I will be sure to let you know how I get on with it.
In the mean time if you want to start Yoga yourself then here is a beginners program for Yoga Click Here!

I started practicing yoga regularly about two years ago when I finally had to admit that I needed medication to help keep my blood pressure in check. I did not want to start a lifetime series of needing higher and higher doses. I truly believe that it has helped. Whether it is the quieting or breathing or the actual poses that have a physical impact, I can’t say for sure. But I believe it works.
Thanks! I’ve really enjoyed all of your posts.
Hi Patricia
Thanks for your interest in my blog and taking the time to read my posts and leave a comment. I had a quick look at TeAm’e and it looks very interesting, I will go back to have a proper look though.
Thanks
