Swimming will get you fit without a doubt and is for sure a great aerobic exercise, but there are loads of other benefits of swimming. When we swim we are supported by the water so it is an easy type of exercise to do, swimming is relaxing, vigorating and when you have had a good swim you are left De-stressed with a feeling of well being and a more positive outlook.

There are different ways of swimming like breast stroke which is probably one of the most popular strokes, front crawl also popular, back stroke and butterfly stroke. They all work our major muscle groups including that important muscle our heart. Because the support the water gives our bodies swimming has a lower impact on the body than say running but is just as effective in fitness building abilities.

When we swim the water acts asĀ  natural resistance and every movement we make takes some effort. It is well known that swimming is another aerobic exercise that helps lower blood pressure and heart disease if done on a regular basis. Swimming tones our muscles, also swimming is a great fun way to get fit and healthy and can be enjoyed with family and friends. So swimming is an easy fun way for us to get a regular workout, get down to your local swimming pool and get active.

If you can’t swim then now would be a good time to learn, most swimming pools will have lessons available and swimming is pretty easy to learn. There is no excuse, get some lessons and learn to swim and then you will see what you have been missing out on.

Get your swim suit on and just add water.
