Meditation
TO LOWER BLOOD PRESSURE
Can meditation help lower blood pressure, well according to many experiments done by many scientists yes it can help lower blood pressure. I can see that it would probably help with high blood pressure.
So what could be better than totally switching off and relaxing and at the same time you are helping to bring down your blood pressure. Sounds good to me and something that I think is definitely worth trying. So what actually happens when we meditate.
When we meditate we go into a higher state of consciousness and we experience a deep rest that eliminates tension and stress. So then if we are eliminating tension and stress with meditation we can see how that may bring down our blood pressure.
When starting meditation it can be hard to actually do it, the mind wanders and before you know it you can be thinking about things that stressed you out in the first place. There are plenty of courses available to help you with this and most are very good. It is easier to listen to an audio CD guiding you into your meditation and if you persevere with meditation you will soon be able to do it when ever you want.
A technique used in India was introduced to the west by Maharishi Mahesh Yogi in 1958, this technique of meditation is Transcendental Meditation and it is a simple form of meditation that involves reciting a personal mantra rather than any kind of concentration to clear your mind which is difficult for the beginner.
By reciting your own personal mantra you are at ease and if your mind starts to wander then focus on your mantra and you lose the other thought that tried to intrude. Most people who practice Transcendental meditation do so for about 15-20 minutes twice a day. Normally once in the morning before we start our busy activities for the day which will fill us with energy for our day ahead and then again when we have finished all our busy activities for the day, this will wipe away all the stresses we may have occurred during the day and relax us for a good night sleep.
So are you thinking about meditation, if you are you may well find Transcendental meditation the easiest to master and therefore not give up on it. Give it a try it can only enhance your life. Good Luck!
I have had a look around and found the first book that Maharishi Mahesh Yogi wrote about his Transcendental Meditation Technique.
