HOW HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE AFFECTS OUR KIDNEYS

If we have high blood pressure and it goes undiagnosed then we can end up with kidney problems as a result.

So what do our kidneys do ? The kidneys function is to help remove unwanted waste from our blood by filtering and regulate the bodies water content. Also our kidneys will control the calcium levels in our bodies and help to regulate our blood pressure. So what happens if our blood pressure becomes high and it goes undetected ?

As we know if we have high blood pressure then our poor old heart has to work harder to pump that blood around our bodies, including the kidneys. As this carries on over a period of time then our blood vessels can become damaged. If the blood vessels that run through our kidneys become damaged as a result then the kidneys may not be able to remove the waste the way it always has done. This can cause your kidneys to ultimately fail.

There are a high percentage of kidney failure cases that are a result of high blood pressure. If you suffer from kidney problems and your kidneys fail then you will have to go on dialysis regularly to cleanse your blood as your kidneys will no longer be able to do their job. Then you only other option is a kidney transplant.

I think this reason alone is worth the regular check of our blood pressure. This way you can catch high blood pressure and take steps to lower it before it can cause other problems in your body, especially kidney problems. So don’t have a “it won’t happen to me” attitude, it takes a couple of minutes to have your blood pressure checked and is a simple painless test.

In your things to do list today, organize a blood pressure check.
