Get Fit
BENEFITS OF EXERCISE
When it comes to high blood pressure then exercise and fitness is something that we really need to think about seriously. Get fit to bring down your blood pressure and avoid tablets for the rest of your life.
It is hard to explain why exercise helps to lower blood pressure, think of it this way your heart is a muscle. Now if you decided to exercise your left bicep muscle with weights on a regular basis but didn’t exercise you right bicep muscle at all then which bicep do you think will be the strongest and fittest after a few weeks.
So now you have to lift a 10lb weight 20 times with your left arm then 20 times with your right arm. The left arm will complete this task without to much effort, the right arm is going to struggle to cope with the pressure of the task and may not even be able to complete it. If we exercise regularly then we exercise our hearts and they become stronger and fitter and work more effectively.
Take two individuals of the same age and size etc.. One keeps fit and exercises regular the other hasn’t done any exercise for years and drives everywhere never walks and always takes the lift. They both have to run 500 metres like their life depended on it, Now 500 metres is not a great distance but exercise individual is going to run this without any problems and his heart rate and breathing will probably be back to normal before non exercise individual even gets to the finish if he does at all, and then he will be puffing and panting for several minutes before he can probably even talk.
So what this tells us is that the heart of the exercise individual was under no where near the kind of pressure that non exercise individuals heart was. Now who’s blood pressure do you think was the highest during and after the 500 metre run.
So we see now that we need to exercise that amazing muscle called our heart. Be sure to get checked out by your Doctor before you start any kind of exercise program. Your Doctor will be able to tell you what kind of exercise is OK for you to do in your current state of health.
