Eye Problems

HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE CAN EFFECT THE EYES

For most people the eyes are our vision of the world. So it must be important to look after them. Did you know that high blood pressure can cause eye problems.

There are many people in this world that are blind, some have never had vision and I can’t even comprehend how they cope, I admire them immensely.  So if like me you are lucky enough to see the world through your eyes then don’t take them for granted. Cherish the wonder of your sight.

If you have high blood pressure and you don’t know it then over a period of time there is damage that could be done to the eyes. High blood pressure as we know causes the heart to work harder and over time we know that this can cause blood vessels in our body to become damaged. There are blood vessels that run through our eyes, if these vessels become damage due to the excess pressure then this can stop the eyes working as well as they should because they are not receiving the right amount of oxygen and blood to function properly.

We get our vision from the retina in our eyes and prolonged high blood pressure can cause the retina damage. If our blood pressure is detected and dealt with then the retina can recover as long as the damage has not gone beyond repair. If the retina is unrepairable then ultimately sight can be lost.

It has got to be worth the small amount of effort that it takes to get our blood pressure level checked. There are many health problems that could be avoided if we just took an easy blood pressure check and eye problems are just one of them.

Go on get your whole family to get a blood pressure check, you know it makes sense.
