Breathing is a big factor in calming our bodies down especially if we are really stressed. It is a well known fact that if we are all worked up and angry and we take a few slow deep breaths then it does calm us down.

Now obviously if we are angry and worked up then our blood pressure is going to be higher than normal and when we get stressed out our blood pressure is higher than normal, this is why stress is so related to our blood pressure levels.

So our breathing can be an important factor to keeping our bodies in check and keeping our blood pressure down. There are certain techniques for breathing and they can all be learnt. Meditation uses calm breathing techniques and is very effective at keeping our system nice and calm. Pregnant women use breathing techniques when giving birth.
