Blood Pressure Readings
MY BLOOD PRESSURE
So my Blood Pressure Reading was pretty high at 189/102 and I was worried which probably didn’t help my blood pressure level. So what did the nurse tell me that worried me so much.I was told that with a blood pressure reading that high I was at a serious risk of a stroke or heart attack. That is not something that I was going to take Lightly. The thing is that I didn’t feel as if I was sick or ill, in fact I felt absolutely fine so why if my blood pressure is high did I not know it. This is why I was told that High blood pressure or Hypertension as it can be called is a silent killer. You don’t necessarily know that you have high Blood Pressure.
So this is why it is important to monitor blood pressure. I am not saying you need to have it checked every day, but it is worth having a check up at your Doctors may be once or twice a year.
So after a chat with the nurse about my lifestyle I needed to make some changes. My lifestyle I didn’t think was particularly that unhealthy. Yes I do smoke, I drink a lot of coffee, I like the odd tipple of red wine and several beers now and again. I eat want I want except for fruit. My Body Mass Index was a perfect 25 so why did I have high blood pressure. It didn’t make any sense to me.
The point is I did have high blood pressure and my options were to try and lower it by myself over the next few months by making some changes to my lifestyle or go on medication to bring it down. Medication was not for me, so I had to attempt to bring it down myself. I would have to have my blood pressure taken two weeks later and if there was an improvement then regularly after that until the nurse was satisfied that it was staying in the normal area. Otherwise it would be the dreaded medication.
I have learnt a lot over the last six months about blood pressure and although I am by no means an expert I thought I would share my experience in this blog so I could may be help others to keep their blood pressure normal and avoid medication.
So I hope I can help at least one person, so if that is you then keep reading my posts. See you in the next one.
