Blood Pressure Age
There is a connection to blood pressure rising with age as there is with weight. Does this mean that the young think that blood pressure is nothing for them to worry about for a while yet, there is a misconception that you only suffer from high blood pressure as you get older.
It is true that blood pressure can rise as we get older in years, this is due to the reduced elasticity in the arterial system. So age is taken into account when deciding on how high the blood pressure is and if it is to high. Apart from age there are other factors that can increase blood pressure, like being overweight, alcohol and smoking, but these are just a few.
Being young does not excuse us from high blood pressure, anyone at any age can develop hypertension at any time. The frightening thing is that because there are never normally any symptoms that go with this condition there are many people young and old that have got high blood pressure and don’t realise it.
The reason it is frightening is that left unresolved high blood pressure can eventually cause major health problems such as kidney failure, stroke or heart attack. They surely have got to be good enough reason to check our BP regular. Remember you don’t have to feel sick to have it, the lack of symptoms is what earned it the name ‘Silent Killer’ and it will carry on regardless if it is allowed to go unnoticed.
To have a BP check is so easy, it takes a couple of minutes. You can visit your Doctors office or most Pharmacies will check your BP these days. Another alternative is to purchase your own Blood Pressure Monitor and then you can keep a check on the whole family. They are very inexpensive especially when you put your life up against them, so there is no excuse to not check your BP one way or another on a regular basis.
