Beetroot Juice

We all know that vegetables are good for us, so them and fruit should be part of our healthy diet. There has been much talk about the effectiveness of beetroot juice. Beetroot is a great vegetable and is mainly used for salads and I must admit to liking it, but what about the juice. The reseach done into the relationship between beetroot juice and blood pressure has supposedly been tested and the result was that it can lower blood pressure. It is said to contain nitrate that reacts with bacteria in the mouth and results in dilating the blood vessels which in turn increases the blood flow.

Sounds pretty impressive and the tests that were done did show that several hours after consuming beetrrot juice the people tested had a noticable drop in their blood pressure. I did try it and although I do love beetroot on my salad, Ididn’t enjoy the juice. What I did find though which was a bit of a shock was that my Pee turned red, which was a bit weird.

You would think that if the juice of a beetroot has the desired affect on bllod pressure then the consumption of the vegetable itself would also, so I am giving the juice a miss, but will still continue to eat it with my salads.

My conclusion is that this research really does confirm that if we eat a Healthy Balanced Diet then we will be doing what we can to control our blood pressure through our diets. Although I wasn’t keen on this red juice that doesn’t mean to say that you won’t like it, so it may be worth giving it a try, you might love it. Remember though about the red pee bit. Also with many things it may work better for some people than it does for others, but it is still worth a taste.
